G. William Gastineau died peacefully at home on June 27 surrounded by his loving family. Born February 22, 1935 and raised in Quincy, IL, Bill graduated from Rankin Trade School in St. Louis, MO before serving in the Navy on the USS Princeton from 1956-1960. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1964 – where he met his wife of 54 years, Sandy. Together they raised two sons Geoff (Cary, IL), and Greg (Vail, CO). Bill was the proud grandfather of Geoff’s two sons, Max and Ben.

Bill worked in banking from 1964-1978, where he served at the executive level at both American National Bank in Chicago and Hyde Park Bank and Trust. After retirement from the banking industry, Bill pursued many entrepreneurial ventures, including real estate development and brokerage. Bill enjoyed fishing, “collecting”, and entertaining his many friends and neighbors with tall tales and dirty jokes.

He is preceded in death by his brother Jerry, and his sister Dorothy. Those left behind include his sister Wanda Lymenstull (Dallas, TX), his “Chowhound” buddies, and the many neighbors in

Mt. Prospect who viewed him as a friend and father figure.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 6, 3:00 to -8:00 p.m. with military honors at 6:30 p.m. at  Friedrich’s Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd. (at Northwest Highway)  Mt. Prospect, IL 60056.
